Keep going forward until that day

A burden of affliction is apt to make the Christian's hands hang down, and his knees grow feeble, to dispirit him and discourage him; but against this he must strive, that he may better run his spiritual race and course. Faith and patience enable believers to follow peace and holiness, as a man follows his calling constantly, diligently, and with pleasure. Peace with men, of all sects and parties, will be favorable to our pursuit of holiness. But peace and holiness go together; there can be not right peace without holiness. Where persons fail of having the true grace of God, corruption will prevail and break forth; beware lest any unmortified lust in the heart, which seems to be dead, should spring up, to trouble and disturb the whole body. Falling away from Christ is the fruit of preferring the delights of the flesh, to the blessing of God, and the heavenly inheritance, as Esau did. But sinners will not always have such mean thoughts of the Divine blessing and inheritance as they now have. It agrees with the profane man's disposition, to desire the blessing, yet to despise the means whereby the blessing is to be gained. But God will neither sever the means from the blessing, nor join the blessing with the satisfying of man's lusts. God's mercy and blessing were never sought carefully and not obtained.

Hebrews 12:12-17

Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. “Make level paths for your feet,”so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.
Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy;without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.  Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done.

The argument for a First Cause of being

There seems to be a basic for behind all of these arguments with only a different starting point.
Each argument begins in some characteristic of being (change, causality, contingency and perfection, respectively) and then argues to a First Cause:

1) Some dependent beings exist.

2) All dependent beings must have a cause for their dependent existence.

3) All infinite regress of existentially dependent causes is impossible.

4) Therefore, there must be a first, uncaused Cause of the existence of every dependent being.

5) This independent Being is identical with the "I AM" of the Scripture. The implication is that it is impossible to have more than one necessary and independent being upon which everything else exists for its being.

John 8:58

“Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!”

This hit the spot

The apostle having closed the first part of the epistle, the doctrine is applied to practical purposes. As believers had an open way to the presence of God, it became them to use this privilege. The way and means by which Christians enjoy such privileges, is by the blood of Jesus, by the merit of that blood which he offered up as an atoning sacrifice. The agreement of infinite holiness with pardoning mercy, was not clearly understood till the human nature of Christ, the Son of God, was wounded and bruised for our sins. Our way to heaven is by a crucified Savior; his death is to us the way of life, and to those who believe this, he will be precious. They must draw near to God; it would be contempt of Christ, still to keep at a distance. Their bodies were to be washed with pure water, alluding to the cleansing directed under the law: thus the use of water in baptism, was to remind Christians that their conduct should be pure and holy. While they derived comfort and grace from their reconciled Father to their own souls, they would adorn the doctrine of God their Savior in all things. Believers are to consider how they can be of service to each other, especially stirring up each other to the more vigorous and abundant exercise of love, and the practice of good works. The communion of saints is a great help and privilege, and a means of steadfastness and perseverance. We should observe the coming of times of trial, and be thereby quickened to greater diligence. There is a trying day coming on all men, the day of our death.

Hebrews 10:19-25

19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

The best way

The law merely presents a shadow of the essential spiritual blessings and does not perfect those who seek God through it. Its sacrifices therefore must be continually repeated and the consciousness of sins is annually revived, for animal blood cannot take sins away. Accordingly, when Christ comes into the world He says, “Sacrifice and offering Thou wouldst not, I am come to do Thy will”. He proclaims the uselessness of O.T. sacrifices, that He may clear the ground for “the offering of the body of Christ”. This is the great distinction between Christ and all other priests. They stand daily ministering, He by one offering has perfected those who approach God through Him.

Hebrews 10:1-18

The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins. It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:
“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
    but a body you prepared for me;
with burnt offerings and sin offerings
    you were not pleased.
Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—
I have come to do your will, my God.’”
First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”—though they were offered in accordance with the law. Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. 10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16 “This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”
17 Then he adds:
“Their sins and lawless acts
    I will remember no more.”
18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.

Hold on tight

The book of Hebrews were written to the Jewish believers in Jesus. Jesus was the fulfillment of the Old Testament law.
Jesus is the great high priest from the order of  Melchizedek and that is higher than the Levi priesthood.
Since, Jesus is the Messiah, he lived a perfect life because only God is perfect. You can gather this information in Psalm 110, if you want extra credit.
He became the perfect sacrifice for mankind. The animal sacrifices were like using a credit card to pay for a item, it would pay for the item but there is still debt.
Jesus death on the the cross and the resurrection brought victory over sins. Jesus came back to life and then he went back to heaven.
Jesus conquered the power of sin and death. The issues of life always goes back to sin and death but Jesus has overcame these issues, so the Jews can be made right before God the Father.
I have good news that non-Jews can be made right before the Lord, too.

Hebrews 4:14

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.

There are two options in life

If there is a stubborn child. You can give them two options and the child will think that they are making their own decisions. This can be effective in working with children.
Adults are little children that have big bodies. They want to rebel against authorities. They don't want to take orders and become self-centered.
The book of Hebrews address the Jews. The Jews that were lead by Moses could have entered the Holy Land but they didn't rest in the Lord. Many Jews followed their own desires.
This didn't change when Jesus appeared on this earth. He is the fulfillment of the Old Testament law.
Many Jewish people refuse to follow Jesus as the Messiah after the resurrection of Jesus.
There are many Jews that live today that don't enter the rest of the Messiah. When a person refuses the Lord then that person goes against the Lord.
It is not just a Jewish problem. It is a non-Jews problem because many people will refuse to follow the Lord.
They want to make their own rules but they are always at war with each other and God.
Like the little child, we have two choices. We can follow the Lord or not. God is the great Parent and we are little children. We can call God our Father or we can call Satan our father.

Hebrews 4:11

Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

We need to rest

The privileges we have under the gospel, are greater than any had under the law of Moses, though the same gospel for substance was preached under both Testaments. There have been in all ages many unprofitable hearers; and unbelief is at the root of all unfruitfulness under the word. Faith in the hearer is the life of the word. But it is a painful consequence of partial neglect, and of a loose and wavering profession, that they often cause men to seem to come short. Let us then give diligence, that we may have a clear entrance into the kingdom of God. As God finished his work, and then rested from it, so he will cause those who believe, to finish their work, and then to enjoy their rest. It is evident, that there is a more spiritual and excellent sabbath remaining for the people of God, than that of the seventh day, or that into which Joshua led the Jews. This rest is, a rest of grace, and comfort, and holiness, in the gospel state. And a rest in glory, where the people of God shall enjoy the end of their faith, and the object of all their desires. The rest, or sabbatism, which is the subject of the apostle's reasoning, and as to which he concludes that it remains to be enjoyed, is undoubtedly the heavenly rest, which remains to the people of God, and is opposed to a state of labor and trouble in this world. It is the rest they shall obtain when the Lord Jesus shall appear from heaven. But those who do not believe, shall never enter into this spiritual rest, either of grace here or glory hereafter. God has always declared man's rest to be in him, and his love to be the only real happiness of the soul; and faith in his promises, through his Son, to be the only way of entering that rest.

Hebrews 4:1-10
1 Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed. Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,
“So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’”
And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.”And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.”
Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
    do not harden your hearts.”
For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.

Don't disbelieve

I am studying the book of Hebrews. The book is written to the Jews but it helps every believer in Jesus.
This book will bridge the Old Testament with the New Testament.
I started to read the second chapter of this book, I was a little confuse then I prayed. I studied some more and this is my conclusion.
The author was explaining Jesus in this book. Jesus came for the salvation of the Jews and then the non-Jews.
Many Jews didn't believe in the Messiah because Jesus is the Messiah. God drew many Jews to his side but many Jews refused to believe the truth.
If a person refuses Jesus then there is no hope for them. This is true for a Jewish person, it is good that they are Jews but your nationality don't save a person.
It is faith in Jesus and the Jewish person needs to believe and follow Jesus.
If you are not a Jew, you need to believe in the Lord Jesus. Your job will not save you or being a good person. Everyone is a sinner that needs forgiveness.
Everyone can be pardon, if they desire. The problem is that people love their sin and so reject the Lord.
Jesus came to this earth and proved that he was the Lord. He fulfilled hundred of prophecies and did miracles signs, so there is no excuse.
The world system seems so great but it is a dead end. So go on the forever road with Jesus.

Hebrews 2:1-4

We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
